What is The Smile Effect

Hi there! With the explosion of social media, we tend to find ourselves lost in a heap of never-ending gossip, education, politics or hilarious gifs. So, I thank you for taking the time out of your day to be with me.

Let me preface by saying this blog is not for everyone. But that doesn’t mean you don’t know someone who might relate or even benefit from it. Please, feel free to share with friends, family or even leave a comment letting me know your thoughts. This blog is all about lifting people up, so, unless you bring positivity, constructive criticism, or you want to share an idea that has helped you, feel free to move on. So, without further ado…

What is The Smile Effect? This blog was created to help people rise up after adversity with a new sense of clarity and a smile.

Life is tough and if it hasn’t been for you, just wait. Nobody gets out of here without one or more heart wrenching, kick in the gut, how will I ever survive moments.

These moments have a purpose. You can either lay down in the fetal position, tell yourself there’s no point, you’re worthless, I’m not strong enough, nobody loves me. Or, you can stand up, dust yourself off and say, “I don’t know how I’m going to do it but one day, I’m going to SMILE.

I don’t mean the fake, forced ” God just let me get through this day” smile. I mean the open your eyes to start a new day full of gratitude smile. The smile that people not only see but they feel. A smile that is so infectious that it not only sets your soul free but begins to save others from their darkness.

Some of you may be thinking, “Yea,  she must be living in a fantasy world.” My response to that is, I don’t have to because I have created a reality that I used to only dream about.

I have experienced darkness on multiple different levels, starting from early childhood. It seemed as soon as I would make it to my knees, there was a roundhouse kick out of nowhere to knock my face back down into the mud. This went on for nearly 30 years, until one day, I looked in the mirror and said, ” There has to be more to life than this.” The difference between this moment and all the others that I tried to dust myself off is this time, I believed it.

In this blog, I will share some of my stories and share the steps I have taken to overcome the darkness.  Life is not cookie cutter and what has worked for me may not work for you. But even if you find one sliver of hope, one jewel that helps you make it through the day, all I ask is for you to do one thing…….Trust. Trust the process. Don’t think about tomorrow, focus on today.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”- Lau Tzu

My goal with this blog is for you to realize that people don’t need to be saved or rescued, all they need is knowledge of their own power.
